Floatation therapy is a luxurious escape from the constant stress of life’s everyday pressures and a natural way to heal the body and mind. The concept is similar to the mineral salt baths at the Dead Sea in Israel. A float pod is a water filled tank in which the participants float in the salt water in an effort to relax, de-stress, and experience pain relief.

One thousand pounds of Epsom Salt (pharmaceutical grade magnesium sulfate) is dissolved into the tub of skin temperature water to create this effect. Both (optionally) lightproof and soundproof, this peaceful space frees you of gravity, noise, and other distractions. As if in deep meditation, your body and mind achieve calmness, entering into a theta brain wave state resulting in profound relaxation. When combined with the zero-gravity environment, the floatation allows your body and mind to enter into its deepest state of relaxation that is not found anywhere else.

the floatation experience

Your experience begins the moment you walk in the door and are greeted by a friendly face. After watching a brief introductory video, you’ll be taken to where you will have your float experience, whether it’s a pod or a room. The room offers a private shower for you to rinse off before the float, and body wash, shampoo, and conditioner to cleanse after the float session. The room is stocked with all of the things you could need for your experience such as a water spritzer, ear plugs, a towel, 2 neck floats to choose from and a washcloth. The staff are very informative for first time floaters and are able to answer any questions you may have before leaving you to start your session.

The float pods and float room are filled with water that is only 10 inches deep. The water is warm and filled with Pharmaceutical Grade Epsom Salt to ensure that you are kept afloat with ease.Lights and/or soothing music are available and completely optional. The pod lid can be left completely opened, half-way closed, or fully closed. The more closed it is the warmer you feel. The float room has a door that can either be open or closed. Once you adjust all the settings to be exactly how you like, you can just lay back and relax.Let the weightlessness and quietness calm you.You won’t have to worry about time because the sessions are automated and will let you know when your session is over. When you are floating you are away from all the noise of the world and can simply just relax your body, soul, and mind.

Tame Your Headaches

A recent study at UC Irvine confirms that floatation therapy is a “long-lasting and versatile treatment” for chronic tension headaches. Neck tight? Shoulders tense? Relief is just a float away…

Improve Sleep

Insomnia comes in many forms, but it’s never a welcome visitor to your bed. Floating for just two hours a week for two weeks has been shown to improve insomnia symptoms for 12 weeks. Begin a once-a-week float habit, and start sleeping better…what’s not to love about that?

Lower Your Blood Pressure

“Lowering your blood pressure can pay off in significant reductions in your risk of strokes and heart attacks, regardless of your age and even if your readings are already in the normal range”. So even if you’re young and healthy, everyone can benefit from lowering their blood pressure, and floating is a simple, effective and even enjoyable way to achieve that goal.

Speed Up Muscle Recovery

Floatation therapy has been shown to reduce lactic acid and perceived pain levels after athletic training. Less muscle soreness means you can get back to your favorite activities sooner, and maybe even expand your repertoire of fun.

Enhance Your Creativity

Floating has been shown to invigorate creative thinking and problem solving and increase energy. Whether you want to improve the quality of your artistic pursuits or just perform better at work, enhanced creativity is just a float away.

Meditate Without Practicing

Meditation is good for us, but many of us are intimidated by the idea that we need to “practice” regularly to reap its rewards. People who float achieve many of the same benefits of meditation with a fraction of the effort. You don’t have to master a particular mantra, coax your knees into uncomfortable poses or achieve perfect focus…just float. It’s that simple.
